The Painful Truth

The Mortal Instruments (c) Cassandra Clare

Lucifer stared at the gate. He couldn't believe what she saw. For almost eternity since his fall, the Angels closed the gate to the Idris--land of Shadowhunters. They could, however, roaming on Earth, collecting souls, making deals--because Demon made deals, or making contracts with warlocks and humans.

Standing in front of him were neither a human nor a warlock. A Shadowhunter. A race of humans, chosen by Raziel, to bring justice upon Earth. But this guy, this particular guy, he could feel ther's something different.

Standing before him was Valentine Morgenstern. A man whose name represent his history. The fall of the morning star. He managed to destroy the gate with the power of Mortal Instruments brought to Idris by Raziel. Mortal Cup to ensure his life wasn't targeted by one of any demons he summoned. Mortal Sword which allowed him to control his race--demons. Mortal Mirrors which allowed his child to break through the gate and standing on top of Idris'. Lucifer scratched his neck.

"So, basically, you want me to eradicate the Shadowhunters?"

"Yes." Was his answer.

"Why? You are a Shadowhunter, aren't you? And I am one of those which you called Downworlder. Your mission was to eradicate us, especially me--the origin of every demon."

"Yes. And I planned to kill you too. Later, after you eradicate the current Clave."

Lucifer grinned. "Basically you just want me to do a dirty job. Humans. Never changed since the age of Adam."

"I know. But you cannot disobey my command, Lucifer. I have Mortal Cup." Valentine raised his hand and showed it to Lucifer. The fallen star couldn't help his laugh.

"Still, as stupid as ever. You think you could control my being with only a cup to help you?"

"It is Raziel's. You cannot disobey its pow--

"Of course I can, human."

Valentine blinked and froze. Lucifer could tell that his face color had turned into somewhat pale. He smirked. "Don't you ever use your brain? If Raziel has that mighty power to kill me and eradicate my childs by himself, he wouldn't asked for your help. It's not because you're one hell of the best of your kind that he chose Jonathan as the first Shadowhunter. Jonathan was the most trustful and honest human in that age, and Raziel being an angel, of course he would believe everything Raziel told him. He created you, Shadowhunters, to do his dirty job."

"I don't believe you. Demons lie."

"Yes. Demons lie. But I am no ordinary demon. I was an angel, and every angels are brothers. That means, we, Raziel and I are brothers. If you were his child, then?"
